Free ancestry notifications?

-I like how ancestry.com gives you hint leaves but the only problem is where can I find a website that gives you free family trees with hint leavesI like the stories in Sports Illustrated, especially the swim suit edition, the only problem is how can I have the magazine delivered to my door, for free?

There are over 400,000 free genealogy sites. None of them have the little green leaves. Some libraries subscribe to Ancestry, so, if you want to put on your clothes and wander down when they are open, you can get the little green leaves for free, maybe. (Not all libraries subscribe.)

I subscribe to Ancestry, so I can see little green leaves at 4 in the morning, in my PJ's. Sometimes when the cat wakes me up I go back to sleep, sometimes I don't.

You can't get little green leaves in your home for free.

Stop and think, dear child; if the omelet fairy delivered free breakfasts to everyone every morning, would Denny's stay in business? If there was a web site just like Ancestry, but free, would Ancestry stay in business?
I agree with Marci, I think those little hints are one of the main reasons that people are putting trees on Ancestry that are outrageously wrong. To the extent of people having a mother and son born in exactly the same year :S People are clicking on those little leaves willy-nilly without a moments thought to their correctness.

A very useful free site is www.familysearch.org - but you will have to go to the bother of typing your ancestors name in if you want to see some results.
There aren't any. You have to do the work the old fashioned way. Keep in mind that, at least in my experience, upwards of 30% of the "hints" are NOT for my ancestors. Be VERY cautious and check all the information you already have to see if the hint is correct.

For example, they gave a hint for a census record that showed a distant cousin living with his great grandmother Maude Taylor. Only my relative didn't have any Taylor relatives. So it wasn't him. I noticed all the other trees for Member Connect has mindlessly accepted the hint, clearly for someone else.
their is no other site otherwise ancestry.com would be out of buisness
