Is the last name "Esteban" considered Hispanic?

-my friend is filipino.her last name is "Esteban".she is full filipino.is her last name hispanic?Esteban is Spanish for Stephen.

The name in and of itself is not Hispanic. Why? Because names themselves do not have an ethnicity, which is what Hispanic is: an ethnicity.

There is a difference in being Hispanic and being Spanish. The name is Spanish.

Spaniards dominated the Philippines from the time of Magellan until we kicked them out in the Spanish-American War of 1898. So, many names used in the Philippines are of Spanish derivation. (Also, German, such as Blumentritt, French, English...and many others.)

So, while Stephen in Spanish, Esteban, is Spanish, it is NOT Hispanic. Believe me, at no time did the Filipinos assimilate the Hispanic culture.
I have no idea; all I know is that that was the dude's name in the Suite Life of Zack and Cody LOL
