Is the surname "Ringelstein" Jewish-German, or only German?

One of my grandfathers names is Ringelstein, and I've heard that this could be a Jewish German name, and that it is no way connected with anything Jewish. I was wondering if anyone here has the answer as this is a pretty rare name. I know a lot of Jewish names end in "Stein" but not all names that end in Stein are of jewish origin. Any opinions?
