Is it illegal to marry your second cousin???

-NOT that im thinking of doing it, im just CURIOUS. lol. would it be illegal for 1st cousins children to marry? and are you really still that blood related when you are second cousins?There are some state that restrict marriage between 1st cousins but nothing more distant.

After all 1st cousins share share one set of the same grandparents

2nd cousins only share one set of Great-Grandparents there are 8 Great Grandparents and only 2 are shared by 2nd cousins.

If you have a biological connection to someone no matter how distant you are blood related to that person. Some get pretty distant but 7th or 8th cousins on a family genealogy is not unusual.
It is not illegal in the US to marry your second cousin. In most states (maybe all), its not illegal to marry your first cousin. It was illegal insofar as first cousins in many states until genetic research showed that there was relatively (no pun intended) little chance it would produce offspring with problems.

Personally, if I were considering marriage with either and was considering having children, I would definitely go in for genetic counseling beforehand.
That really depends on the country you live in and the laws regarding marrying a cousin...........in the Uk you can ( and people do) marry their first cousins, let alone second cousins as they do in much of Europe and many states in the US..............................
