How to make a family tree for my project?

-It's for school. I know how the diagram is set up, but I don't know who all goes in it.

how do I figure that out? my heritage and junk..There's basically two different types of family trees.

One kind is a pedigree chart or ancestor tree. It starts with you and goes backwards, showing your two parents, your four grandparents, your eight great-grandparents... however far back you want to go.

The other kind is starts with an ancestor (say, your grandparents) and comes forward, showing all their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. If you wanted your tree to include your siblings and cousins, that's the kind you'd want to make.
A pedigree chart, which is what a family tree is called by genealogists, is a diagram of your direct ancestors starting with you and branching up from your parents, to your grandparents and continues one generation at a time. You can stop at what ever point you want to.
It depends on how elaborate you want to get. You can put your parents and grandparents and as many generations in that direction as you want/can. You could put your brothers and sisters next to you on the tree. Some people put all kinds of cousins and things but you don't need that for a school project.
You start with yourself and work back, parents, granparents etc, much of what you need is on here, including a variety of free print of trees to fill in, where to find the infornmation you will need at home for free http://familytimeline.webs.com/

Ask ur relatives who ur relatives are!

Good luck
